42nd Daytime Emmy Awards Results and Highlights

LGS had a DAYTIME EMMY Party and made merry while the folks we love and watch every single day were being honored for what they do best.  We are bringing you these results and highlights as we understand that a lot of folks didn’t have a way to watch the show.

The first Emmy for the night was for Out-standing supporting actress went to Amelia Heinle (Victoria Newman) of The Young and the Restless.  Her acceptance speech was terrible.  She said she was not being eloquent and she really wasn’t.  She also said she was shocked that she won this award and that was fact was pretty obvious.  Her cast mates were very happy for her.

The next Emmy for Out-standing supporting actor went to Chad Duell (Michael Corinthos Quartermaine) LGS can’t keep up with that characters name but we hope you know who we are talking about of GH.  He was very excited to win and thanked many people appropriately.  I hope his brother doesn’t have someone call him this week and tell him it was a mistake like they did for his nomination.

The Younger Out-Standing supporting actor went to Freddie Smith (Sonny Kiriakis) of Days of Our Lives.  The LGS team though he truly earned it this year and it looks like it will be his swan song as he has already taped his last episode and is out of there.  His parents were in the audience to support him tonight. Their presence there tonight could have been a condition of his parole.  He is heading back to his home state to clean up his act, do his community service and be a better man. It is a shame that Days is losing him as he truly is a talented actor who seems to have momentarily lost his way.

The Younger Out-standing supporting actress Emmy was a total shock to the LGS team.  For the past year, all the team has read is complaints about this actresses whining.  She is certainly the queen of whining but the committee thought that Hunter King (Summer Newman) of Y&R should take home the Emmy.  This obviously wasn’t fan voted because she would not have won.  She had a nice speech and her cast mates stood and applauded for her.  She is a pretty girl but she needs to calm down the whining.

The Best Actor Emmy went to Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer if you live in a cave) from General Hospital.  Everyone knows that Luke has a storyline that actually saw a birthday/anniversary but with that he acted his butt off so this was a earned award.

The Best Actress Emmy went Maura West (Ava Jerome) of General Hospital so General Hospital took the gold home in that category.  Maura did a good job but LGS does not think she did a better job than Allison Sweeney (Sami Brady) on Days of Our Lives.  Maura’s work has been great since the cancer diagnosis and for 2 days during the delivery of the baby but in comparison, Allison Sweeney did a straight 4 months of excellent, phenomenal work so LGS. Maura looked thrilled to get the win and looked nice and pink and healthy.

There was a tie for BEST DAYTIME DRAMA and they announced ‘Days of our Lives,’ first.  Days definitely deserved to win it but they deserved to win it alone.  ALLISON SWEENEY and JAMES SCOTT gave a solid 4 months of phenomenal drama in a row with their story-line. ‘The Young and the Restless’ has only gotten interesting in the last 4 months since they got their new head writer. They had lost their matriarch and have struggled to redefine who they are until Pratt started writing story-line. Now things have gotten interesting.  Had this been next year, I would have said well deserved.

Some wonderful highlights were Betty White receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award.  She had everyone laughing in the audience.

There was also Fan Voted:
Best Bitch Slap and Quinn hitting Brooke won that poll.
Best Wedding Disaster and the Carly and Franco Wedding won that poll.
Bold and Beautiful - Best Writing and Directing Team.

Before we go we wanted to share this special project with you.  If you have a minute, please read. This little boy will pull at your heartstrings.

Super Storm Sandy didn’t just change lives up North.  The aftermath of that storm caused a huge branch to snap in the playground of a day care where this precious little 2 year old boy was playing.  That little boy’s name is Tripp Halstead.  That branch caused traumatic brain injury as it literally crushed a large section of Tripp’s skull which damaged his brain.

The doctors really didn’t think he would survive but he did.  After 6 months, and to date, 16 surgeries, this little boy is now 4 years old and growing, trying to talk, smiling and moving his arms and legs.  He is featured in my new book, “The Traveling Jalapeno’s Meet Tripp Halstead,” which will be available on Amazon soon.  I have written a song that offers hope and inspiration that where there is life, there can be a miracle.  Tripp inspired the song and it is called, “The Little Boy That Could – Tripp’s Song.”  That song is being released on iTunes on April 28, 2015.  1/2 the proceeds from downloads are being donated to Tripp for his nursing care that insurance does not cover.  Help us get this song to #1 on iTunes next week when it is released by downloading it immediately.  For a sneak peek/listen to the song, see the YouTube promo.
