For all the All My Children fans, Days of our Lives fans and even Young and Restless fans we would like to bring the kind and loving heart and mind of Vincent Irizzary to your attention.

As Vincent speaks of irony in his tribute to Pine Valley and Agnes Nixon, a 7th sense must have been telling him that the woman he adored, fought to get recognized via the Kennedy Honors would pass away just 5 short days later.  Vincent Irizzary is and has always been a fabulous human being and a phenomenal actor.  Here is what Vincent said on his Facebook page on September 23, 2016.

Interesting coincidence. Ended up in Glendale today; a part of town I rarely, rarely visit. Decided to go to The Americana for a salad and glass of wine to bring the exhausting, yet satisfying, work week to an end; decompress. Perfect afternoon. Clear, sunny skies. Slight breeze. Moderate temperature. LA autumn at its finest. Doesn't hurt to have the musical standards I adore playing over the PA outside where I sit, harmoniously joining the flowing waters of the nearby gilded fountain...Sinatra, Bennett, Holiday... Yes. What Friday's were created for... However, what makes this seemingly perfect late afternoon even more curious is what I recently, completely by chance, spotted on my Twitter feed; this accompanying article. Today happens to mark the 5 year anniversary of the final episode airing of ABC's 40+ yr run of All My Children... Personally, what makes this even more relevant during my weekending exhale is the fact that the last scenes we shot and produced of AMC ABC were at the studio we relocated to here in LA from NYC after 40 yrs of production, just 8 minutes away from where I'm typing this post, so enjoying my New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, at a place I would visit back then, but haven't since I worked on the show those 5 years back. Not once. Coincidence? Hmmmm... Perhaps the restless spirit of Dr DH led me here to reminisce, reflect on this day's significance... Thank you, dear, dear Agnes Nixon, and all I had the privilege of working alongside throughout those magical years. Thank you, even more, all of you who had invited us into your homes, year after glorious year, graciously weaving us into the fabric of your everyday lives. To you I send my greetings from our dear, eternal "Pine Valley." I raise a glass to you all...

Look at all that talent in that photo.  Susan Lucci went to Prime Time with Devious Maids.  The Queen of daytime has not taken a role on another daytime drama.  Vincent Irizzary is now on Days of our Lives. Michael E. Knight was recently on Young and Restless as Dr. Simon Neville and Rebecca Buddig is currently on General Hospital portraying Hayden Barnes.  Walt Willy expressed his condolences on his Facebook page.  Also pictured is Lee Meriwether who portrayed the role of Ruth Martin after Mary Fickett was too ill to continue.  Mary Fickett subsequently passed away on September 12, 2011.  Ray McDonnell and Lee Meriwether are still alive.  Also pictured is Cameron Mathison with his on screen daughter.  He is currently a host on Entertainment tonight.  Last but not least is Jill Larson who played the 2nd Opal Courtland, Michael E. Knights birth-mother on All My Children.

The cast of 'All My Children' and 'One Life To Live' always had a special relationship with Agnes.  She was truly their other mother when they worked on her shows.  They were really all her children and that is how she always treated each and everyone of them.

Agnes Nixon the Mother of Daytime Drama has died

Let's Get Soapy is devastated to learn of the passing of the mother creator of 'All My Children,' and 'One Life To Live."  Agnes Nixon was a genius at bringing real life drama into our living rooms through her writing of brilliant characters and story-line.  

It is hard to see typing past the tears that are rolling down my face. We are never supposed to write in first person but this time I have to make an exception.  I cannot begin to do justice at this time in tribute to this wonderful, beautiful brilliant woman who brought so much joy into people's lives, day after day, year after year through her storytelling.  The Chairman of Disney Robert A. Iger confirmed earlier today that Ms. Nixon passed away.  He said this:  

"It is with a heavy heart I mourn the passing of television pioneer Agnes Nixon, someone I was proud to call a friend. Agnes’ impact on daytime television and pop culture is undeniable. He went on to say: "She was the first to champion socially relevant topics, and the towns and characters Agnes brought to life leave an indelible imprint on television that will be remembered forever.  On behalf of Walt Disney and ABC, I want to extend our deepest condolences to her family.”

To 'All My Children,' and 'One Life to Live' fans, she was more than just the creator of these shows.  She remained very much involved in the shows and was responsible for bringing relevant social topics and events to the surface so that they could be talked about.  Soap Stars who worked with Agnes are mourning her loss tonight.  

We will love you and miss you forever Miss Agnes!!

Young and Restless dropped story-lines

Bethany played by Chrishell Stause

The dropped story-lines on The Young and the Restless continue as Let's Get Soapy wonders what happened to Bethany and her story-line with Billy?

Most people are aware that Chrishell Stause who was hired to play this recurring short lived character on The Young and the Restless is actually the real life girlfriend of Justin Hartley.  Hartley was married to former co-star Lindsay Hartley whom he fell in love with while they were on the short lived soap Passions.  That marriage ended in 2012.

There is an All My Children connection and both Chrishell Stause and Lindsay Hartley played sister-in-laws on the soap the last year that it aired.  Chrishell went over to Days of our Lives where Lindsay Hartley had a short stint before she was killed off as the character Arianna Hernandez.  The soap world is tight knit and with only 4 daytime soapers left, the characters and parts available are few and far between.

So what happened to the character of Bethany played by Hartley's real life girlfriend Chrishell?  Will Hartley demand that his girlfriend get a pivotal role on his soap?  You'll have to stay tuned to find out.

Is Travis being phased out?

How about Travis?  They were making such a big deal about this man's possible CORPORATE connections and now nothing.  Victoria hasn't been near her boyfriend in over a week.

Young and Restless SHOCKING and a tad bit sarcastic WEEKEND SPOILER

WOW!!  February SWEEPS is rolling into play and if you can't wait to find out what is going to HAPPEN on Monday, I don't blame you as it is pretty juicy.  There is some sarcasm in this spoiler, here and there, not too much but if you don't like sarcasm, stop reading and click away from this page. 

Patty cake is back and battier than ever.

Victoria and Billy attempt to spend some alone time together. 

Noah wants to make a deal with Luca to take down Victor.

Crazy Patty tells Nick and Sage that people at FAIRVIEW can’t be trusted.  Oh really, he would have ever thought that was the case.  LOL

Adam thinks he is protecting his nephew

Adam finally admits to Chelsea that he knows who ran Billy over and that is was Noah and that he is protecting Noah.  

Sharon talks to Dr. Anderson about Nick.  Sharon is playing the player and it is fun to watch. 

Why does everyone refer to Natalie as the Swiss hacker?  There is absolutely NOTHING SWISS about her.

Victoria has been closer and more physical with NEW BILLY in just a few days than in all the time Burgess Jenkins (previous Billy) was on the show. 

There is a court order to keep Sage in FAIRVIEW and Nick is starting to think that it is a very bad idea for Sage to be in there. 

Dr. Anderson started really opening up to Sharon and showing Sharon that Nick has been screwed up by his father.  Nick goes wandering around in the doctor’s office and finds the book on paralysis.

Chelsea is really against Adam helping Noah. Adam gives Noah a first class ticket out of the country.

Patty tries to tell Sage that Dr. Anderson that is bad.

Sharon tells Nick all about how weird Dr. Anderson was and Sharon also tells Nick that Sandy has a problem with Victor as well. How with the book on paralysis in Nick sits with Sharon and figures out that Sandra is Sandra Allan, the girl that jumped off the roof and broke her neck.

Chelsea goes to see Billy. Billy then becomes suspicious of why Chelsea was asking so many questions about Billy’s hit and run.

Luca flirts with Summer. Noah interrupts them and chases Summer away.  He then tells Luca that Adam wants him to leave the country and that he is not going to go and is going to stay and help Luca. 

Sage finds Patty rocking back and forth singing Mockingbird in her room.  Sages asks her what Dr. Anderson did to her? 

Who stabbed Dr. Anderson in the back???

Nick and Sharon head to FAIRVIEW and find Dr. Anderson dead on the floor apparently the victim of a stabbing in the back by her letter opener or steak knife. How ironic that all her emotional problems stemmed from a vertebrae injury and now she may be dead  by being stabbed in the back both literally and figuratively.  So the big question is, was it Patty or Sage or was it somebody totally unexpected? 

Did you find it nice seeing Sharon and Nick working together again?

Young and Restless Future Story-line POSSIBILITY - SUPER COUPLE IDEA

Let's Get Soapy was thinking about the current cast of Young and Restless and what they should and could do to not only increase viewership but to enhance the show.  They just hired Michael E. Knight.  Ironically, they just recently let Cady McClain go.  At one time Michael E. Knight and Cady McClain played the SUPER COUPLE Tad & Dixie on 'All My Children.'  

It would be a smart move on the part of the writers and powers that be if they were to resurrect the character that Cady McClain played and bring her back and match her up with the crazy professor Dr. Neville currently being portrayed by Michael Knight.  In fact, they could bring her back in a coma NOT DEAD as Jack thought she was and have Dr. Neville bring her out of her coma.

That would get Jack off on that possible future murder charge and it would give the Young and the Restless an increased viewership when All My Children fans come on over to Y&R to see their Tad & Dixie together again. Yes, they will have different names but the chemistry will still be there.  So POWERS THAT BE OVER at The Young and the Restless - HINT HINT.....Never mind hint hint...You have an amazing opportunity starring you in the face.  Open your eyes and cease the opportunity.  Carpe diem.

Soap Star involved in HORRIFIC CAR CHASE CRASH

Soap Star involved in HORRIFIC crash that took place during a high speed chase in the streets of LA last night. 

Brian Gaskill who starred in the daytime dramas, 'All My Children,' as Bobby Warner and as Rafe the Angel, on 'Port Charles,' and Oscar on 'The Bold and the Beautiful' Dylan on 'Guilding Light,' and B.J. on 'As The World Turns,' was involved in this high speed chase as he and he friend sat innocently in traffic.

The actor reported on his Facebook page this that both he and his passenger/girlfriend are okay this morning but happy to be alive. 

There is video footage and photos of this chase and crash.  This is what Gaskill posted on his Facebook page:  “Thankful to be alive after being hit in the climax of a high speed chase.... It was even televised .... Vincent Irizarry joins the cast of Days - Interview Snippet

Many folks now know that Vincent Irizarry has joined the cast of Days of Our Lives.  Fans of All My Children, One Life to Live, Young and Restless and The Guiding Light are familiar with his outstanding work. 

There are many sides to Irizarry.  He is an actor who also studied music at Berklee and he is a fantastic photographer.  You can see his photographic artwork on his website.  We interviewed him in 2014 and here is a snippet of that interview. 

Vincent is coming to Days

We had a lot of talk about because we have a lot in common.  We were raised literally 5 miles from one another during the same time and were both teens in the 1970's and shopped and hung out at the same Mall.  It should be noted that most of the things I discuss with my interviewee’s never make it to print.  Things that are said "off the record" stay "off the record."  I didn't think Vincent would mind me sharing this little snippet of audio.  This was a light part of the interview where we were discussing different TV shows we like.  Irizarry was talking about a fellow actor friend of his that starred in the television show, Arrested Development.  We also talked about VEEP and binge watching television series which we both like to do.  That led to him talking about his friend who starred in Arrested Development who also starred in the very first Taco Bell commercial.

Michael E. Knight to Young and Restless

The writers made a great decision reaching out to Michael and inviting him to be a fictional resident of GC.  Michael E. Knight was a fan favorite on All My Children as the notorious ladies man nicknamed Tad the Cad.

He spent many a day and night romancing the dames when he wore the skin of a younger man.  By the time All my Children was coming to an end, Tad was still falling in love but he had slowed down a bit with only 2 women at a time. 

He joins the cast of Y&R taking the role of a doctor without scruples named Dr. Simon Neville.  It seems the good doctor is coming to town with some secrets of his own.  Let’s Get Soapy won’t speculate in this piece about where we think this is going because this piece is a welcoming piece to Knight and all the All My Children fans that love him and are thrilled to see him back on daytime. 
The addition of Knight to Y&R should increase ratings some as the All My Children fans flock on over to see him in action again.  This was a sound business decision and Let’s Get Soapy thinks that the Y&R fans are going to love Knight and his delivery of lines as much as the All My Children fans did.  Knights first airdate is October 15th, 2015. 
A dream come true for Let’s Get Soapy would be for Young and Restless to invite Susan Lucci to the show

General Hospital: Previous roles of deVry, Devane and Chloe

William deVry as Michael Cambias on All My Children

Long before William deVry portrayed Julian Jerome on General Hospital, he portrayed Michael Cambias on “All My Children.”  He was not a good guy on “All My Children.” When we say not a good guy, we mean that he actually portrayed a very evil character.     

Long before the Bianca rape, the character struggled with the stress of being Erica’s daughter by developing Anorexia.   
Not only did he rape a main character, Erica’s youngest daughter Bianca, he impregnated her during that rape.  

He did the face touching thing then too!!

The character of Bianca portrayed the very first lesbian on daytime television and she was daytime icons on screen daughter so this story-line was shocking. Bianca was raped and became a mother because of that rape.  She had a second child by invitro fertilization by her rapist’s brother so her children would be almost full blooded siblings.  Agnes Nixon always tried to touch on real life situations in her writing. 

Anna DeVane on All My Children

Does anyone else look familiar here?  Yes, that is Anna DeVane (Finola Hughes).  She did a stint on All My Children as Anna DeVane.  She even got pregnant and lost an almost full term baby with the character Dr. David Hayward-Vincent Irizarry.  The baby was named Leora after Davids brother Leo.  

Yes Young and Restless Fans - that is your Chloe.  She was Maggie on All My Children.
